Dr. Gray has been with PHL since 1991. Currently the Director of Laboratories, he received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at the University of California in Davis. His responsibilities touch on all aspects of operations at PHL.

Dr. Selim, for his recognized scientific expertise and knowledge in veterinary vaccinology, joined PHL as a scientist in 1997 after having provided consulting services to PHL for a few months. He brought multidisciplinary skills from his long academic and clinical research experience in applied veterinary medicine. Among other skills, his two decades of research attachment with the J5 vaccine, the top selling product of PHL, made him one of the central personnel over time. He is responsible for oversight of the Research and Development (R&D) wing with a mission aimed to developing new products and improving the existing product line towards perfection for animal health and welfare, which in turn is a commitment for a green environment and human food safety and health. Current R&D has several new product prototypes in the pipeline, some of which are in Phase II trials now under his directives. Dr. Selim pioneered an inspired cGMP Quality Assurance program for product excellence in 2002 and he is responsible for corporate quality assurance compliance with regulatory bodies and business clients. The successful implementation of current QA program resulted in world-class quality products from PHL and raised our level of manufacturing excellence as recognized by our clients and business partners including Pfizer Inc.

Dr. Selim has been living in Davis, CA since 1988. His hobbies include traveling, reading science, fishing, grilling and gardening. He is an amateur soccer referee for kids for seasonal AYSO games and plays tennis and cards when time permits.

Angela’s earliest education took place in a tiny Ukrainian Catholic school in Pennsylvania where the entire first through fourth grades were comprised of 12 students being taught together in two rooms. During the original Gulf War, she served in the Air Force at Incirlik Air Base in Turkey and is now considered a war veteran. She eventually found her way to UC Davis where she studied Genetics and did undergraduate research utilizing many molecular biology tools. She has worked at PHL since 2004, helping to produce vaccines and performing potency and purity testing on PHL products. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening at her beautiful new home, sculpting and painting, reading and watching forensic crime dramas. She loves animals and being outside surrounded by nature.

Rick has more than thirty years experience in public accounting providing a wide variety of services to a varied clientele. Early in his career, Rick established a successful accounting firm providing traditional audit, financial reporting, and tax services. In 1992, Rick began to specialize in consulting services providing interim and part-time controllership functions. With many clients, he serves as the chief financial officer.

His services include business financial planning including financial modeling for cash flow, debt reduction, and improving profitability. Rick’s clients have ranged from manufacturing to retail, and include biotech firms, construction, food service, consulting and medical service companies.

At PHL, Rick has streamlined the accounting and reporting function, generating meaningful reports for making strategic business decisions. As a function of maintaining an efficient accounting system, Rick has analyzed and implemented systems for cost accounting, cash flow management, capital improvements and expense reductions.

Rick graduated from California State University—Sacramento, graduating with a BA degree in business administration with an emphasis in Accounting. Rick also obtained a minor degree in computer sciences.

Rick is licensed by the State of California as a Certified Public Accountant and he is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Albert went to UC Davis and graduated with a degrees in Biology and Japanese. Upon graduation, he started at PHL and has been here since 2007. His responsibilities include emulsification, final product bottling, materials management and receiving, endotoxin testing, supplies management and animal care.

Albert lives in Elk Grove and he enjoys most everything related to Asian culture, music and food. In his spare time, he also is a computer specialist and keeps up with the latest trends in technology. He also enjoys gaming, the San Francisco 49ers and the Sacramento Kings.

Brystal got her Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology from Davis in 2010. She found that working in a laboratory like PHL, has given her the freedom and possibilities to not only work on current projects but discover new products and ideas. Growing up in Riverside, CA, with her family and one sister, she had a chance to discover horseback riding and it remains one of her top fun priorities along with cycling, reading and movies. At only 23, Brystal thinks about another degree but likes the environment that PHL affords her. Being around horses and animals her whole life, Brystal finds herself comfortable both inside the lab and in the field. "It's a good feeling to be in the field with the very animals we are helping to stay healthy," she points out. We see Brystal as a long-term asset to PHL and we hope she continues to flourish at her job.

Coy started at PHL in 1988 after having attended UC Davis and UC Santa Cruz. She took over Autogenous Bacterin production in 1989. In addition to her Autogenous work, she also is responsible for fermentation, bottling and customer service. Her hobbies include landscaping, wood working, painting, photography and motorcycle riding.

Joe joined PHL in 2005 and has been instrumental in keeping the laboratory functioning and looking good. With over 5 acres to cover, he keeps very busy indeed! In addition to his primary duties, Joe also assists in packaging, shipping, materials management and receiving, warehousing, plus product disposal and disposition. Joe lives in Sacramento and in his spare time enjoys cycling, running, music, sports and wine.
